Application Information

The Mercy Family Medicine Residency accepts applications through the ERAS system, this is available to all applicants through their Dean's office or through the medical school from which you graduated.

Interviews are scheduled during November - February. Lodging can be arranged at local hotels for discounted rates. Lodging is arranged by the program coordinator at the nearby Frontenac Hilton.

Interview and Visit Scheduling

A typical interview day consists of a welcome at 9 a.m. by a faculty member or host resident followed by four interviews (25-30 min. each) with a mixture of faculty and residents. There is a tour of the Medical Center and Family Practice Center given after interviews, usually conducted by a second or third year resident. Applicants will be taken to lunch at the Medical Center by two residents and a short wrap-up session will finish the day at St. John's. The applicant will have the opportunity to go to dinner with their resident host later that evening for an informal time to learn more about the program. Spouses and significant others are welcome.

Medical Student Rotations

Third year students from St. Louis University, University of Missouri and Washington University, St. Louis may do required clerkship rotations at the residency. Fourth year medical students may apply for one month sub-internship or externship rotations as well. One is a predominantly ambulatory rotation with supplemental didactic sessions and workshops. The sub-internship requires assuming the care of one admission per day. In addition, the student takes four call days throughout the month of his or her choosing. All interested applicants can call, email or send requests to the address below.

We have also involved first, and second year medical students on a limited basis. Most experiences in the first and second year have centered around summer research projects or faculty-student mentor relationships.

University Connections

The Family Medicine program is affiliated with Saint Louis University School of Medicine and accepts students from many medical schools for externships.
